About Grenada

Grenada consists of the Island of Grenada and six smaller islands in the southeastern Caribbean Sea, north of Trinidad and Tobago. These islands are volcanic in origin and have very mountainous interiors.  The capital is St. George’s.

The size of Grenada is 133 sq. miles.  This country is divided into six parishes, one of which is St. Mark.  The overall population of Grenada is 110,000, with 82% Black.  The per capita income is $7,100.

St. Mark parish lies on the west coast of the Island of Grenada.  The largest village is Victoria.  The population of this parish is approximately 4,000.  Additionally, St. Mark is the smallest parish both in terms of area and population.  54% percent of the inhabitants of St. Mark are identified as living in poverty.
